Grades 9 and 10 follow the internationally renowned IGCSE curriculum, which involves specialist courses spanning a 2 year period, and which are examined at the end of Grade 10. Each student will select 5 subjects for study, as well as completing compulsory English, Mathematics and German courses. The IGCSE courses are a gateway to higher education and with the depth and breadth of the curriculums offered, lay a solid and detailed launch pad into the more sophisticated A-Level system.
Grades 11 and 12 follow the exceptional International Advanced Level programme of study which is internationally recognized as an outstanding foundation for tertiary studies. Upon successful completion, our students are able to attend universities and colleges throughout the world, with many of those in the United States even allowing advancement into the second year of study, a true endorsement of the specialized, demanding and highly academic nature of the course. During the grade 11 year, each student chooses 4 subject specialisms, examined at the end of Grade 11, and 3 of these will be continued into and examined at the end of the grade 12 years.
Our specialist teachers provide lessons at both the IGCSE and International A-Level standard and ISZN is currently the only school in the Zurich area to offer all 3 Science subjects (Physics, Biology, Chemistry), as well as Art and Music, at A-Level. Thorough university research and preparation is also offered as our students begin their foray into education at a tertiary level, and as much assistance is possible is given as they make their applications.
